there were Moffats in St. Lucia but I was not close to them and have no
information on them. Perhaps either Richard Johnson johnsonr@canw.lc or his brother Bernard would have more
info.

Yes,
I got a list from him of the ones he wanted and I sent him 10 and asked him to
check if they came across OK including the pictures.
He was off island for a while but I heard from him this morning,
Monday, and he said that they were OK so I will send the rest
there are about 50 more to go.

I am not sure if I have all of them but I can forward them if you
will supply me with an email address.
I am not sure if the pictures will be there because I have been
cleaning my disk and those circulars were on the list to get deleted.
After I send them I will delete them unless you have a need for
them.

I have sent all the circulars that I had to Don and I received
confirmation from him that they all transmitted correctly. Out of the
ones he requested I did not have numbers 72-83 and number 98.

You need an address in the newsletter where someone can send a
check and a suggested amount for the check.
I don't have very many stories that I remember but would be more
than happy to support your efforts.
You put in a lot of time and I am sure there are costs.
I know that my Yahoo account costs me $20/year since I have Mail
Plus.
I don't know what you have but there is also icq and I got a
message from Hotmail yesterday that seems to suggest that they will be going
the same way as Yahoo as far as downloading and costs.

SITUATION IN VENEZUELA HAS BECOME DRAMATIC AND THERE IS LITTLE HIGH PROTEIN
FOOD AVAILABLE.

service to Caracas. The person is called Ernesto Torres and is part of my
family, who has left for the U.S. at the beginning of the year. He can give you
information on the logistics and how the donation is converted to food items
and sent to my address.

I don't remember much other than the requirements for one badge
that required us to camp out one night and navigate our way back to a pickup
point while mapping our route.
That one I remembered and I wrote about it in an earlier
circular.
Other than the odd episode that for some reason stuck in my mind
the memories from 50 years ago tend to be somewhat sparse.
They are probably still there but need to be stirred a bit to
bring them to the surface.
I believe Roberto Lipavsky (sp) was the leader of our group
and at this moment I have even forgotten what a group was called.
Fr. Ildefonse was the scout master and I am sure there were exams
as you mastered the various requirements for each badge.
They were mostly oral and demonstrations that you had achieved
some level of competence in subjects such as knot tying.
Fr. Ildefonse was no pushover and there was always a certain
amount of underlying fear that you would not meet his standards.
Unpleasant at the time but it made you work harder to achieve the
goal, so ultimately beneficial.

asked my sister and she had no idea if Mr. Modeste attended MSB.
I have forwarded the email to Richard Johnson and asked him to
email you directly if he knows the answer.
Let me know if he knows.
I tried to find and email address for Mr. Modeste but Cable &
Wireless which provides emails in St. Lucia no longer list their customers
email addresses on their web site.

CV of Peter Sammy
Gifted musician. Electrical Engineer.
For those of you who do not know me, I am Peter Sammy, the
Treasurer of the ASAA.
I was given the position I think maybe by default as I was
probably the one who was least trusted to do wrong with our collected monies.
Such is the nature of Abbey Boys.
I try not to comment on any issues which arise between us, and
yet I enjoy reading all of the contributions.
Like most I do not fully understand what the motives behind
refusing permission are, frankly I do not care.
I like most others say with a clear heart that I owe who I am
today to my father, my mother and to the years that I spent at the Abbey
School.
In fact my entire youth and adult life have been spent within 4km
of the Mount.
No one beside we who were there know the impact that monks like
Fr. Cuthbert had on creating in us who we are today.
For my sense of duty, and whatever honesty there is in my actions
I owe a great part to the Mount experience.
Over the years, the bad experiences have faded and the good have
taken a life of their own as they have grown in my mind over the years.
This is why I take personally the events which have overtaken us
and I am truly am brought close to the words of Luke 10, 10-12.
That is all.
